We partnered with the City of Leeds to ask teenagers how they would create 15,000 green jobs across the city.
The 200 teenagers from all over the city took park in the process to design both their dream green job and the pathways to that job including interventions from primary, secondary and further education as well as ideas for the council and employers.
The teenagers developed jobs ranging from flying scouts for polluters through to green data analysts and future modellers, and developed a wide range of pathways that really showed a vision for inclusive growth for the city.
As well as developing ideas that are now being assessed for next steps with the council and Leeds City College , 82% of the teenagers participating said that they aim to work in green roles in their own career.
“Co-designing the Green Jobs strategy with our future workforce has ensured that we are designing a future for everyone and highlights the wide portfolio of skills we need to develop across the city.” – Martyn Long – Head of Skills and Employment, Leeds City Council
