But…what is a SuperSquad?
A practical, paid work experience programme where teens engage with real business and societal challenges.
100 diverse teenagers joined the Munich RE Winter Series SuperSquad, representing 51 unique ethnicities. Many had never considered insurance before, yet over the 6 weeks, they explored, challenged, and reimagined the industry from the perspective of future young talent.
Munich RE wanted to reframe insurance for the next generation, turning an industry often seen as complex or “not for them” into an exciting, ethical, innovative career destination.
Their solutions stretched across TV formats, games, virtual experiences, brand collaborations, and teen-led social media — showing how insurance can meet young people where they already are.
61 teenagers now see Munich RE as a genuine future employer
73 teenagers want to join Munich RE’s mentoring programmes
40% are now interested in a career in insurance — nearly double the industry norm
72% feel positive about the insurance industry, compared with just 42% at the start
One of the standout concepts was Barbie: Insurance Edition, a playful, powerful reframing of the industry for younger audiences.
The idea imagines an Insurance Barbie who inspires both children and adults by showing that the insurance industry is expansive, data-driven, and packed with career opportunities.
For younger audiences: Barbie becomes a gateway into understanding jobs in data, statistics, risk, and analysis.
For parents and adults: Barbie demonstrates that insurance is a future-proof, meaningful industry worth encouraging children to explore.
For the industry: It humanises and celebrates the purpose of insurance — protecting dreams and possibilities.
